Moving from Planning Center to SoapBox

If your church uses Planning Center today, your first question about moving is probably a simple one: what happens to our people? Here's how moving to SoapBox works, one step at a time.

Why SoapBox

Ministry is people, from their very first visit. On SoapBox, when a guest checks in at an event, a follow-up opens for your team automatically. In the web app, your staff can tag people, note their interests, and save segments to follow up with.

Posts from your church are translated into each member's own language. And ORA, a built-in research aid, can draw on your own sermons when someone asks about the Bible.

How to switch

  1. Keep your records

Save your member list and your giving history from Planning Center. Then bring that history in: in the SoapBox web app, open Giving, then Import past giving. Cash and check gifts can be added by hand.

  2. Import your people

In the SoapBox web app, open People, then Members, and choose Import from CSV from the menu. Choose your Planning Center People export. SoapBox recognizes it and matches the columns for you. Check each match, and pick a column for anything it missed. Then you see exactly what will happen before anyone is added: who's new, and who's already on your list. Changed your mind? You can undo the import within seven days.

  3. Invite your people

Share your invite code from Invite Members, and your people join you in the app. They get sermons, groups, events, prayer requests and giving, on iPhone, Android and the web.

  4. Connect Stripe for giving

Gifts land in your church's own Stripe account. SoapBox takes no platform fee on donations, and Stripe's processing fees still apply. Givers can choose to cover the estimated card fee, so your church keeps about the full gift.
