The Bible, deeper — and pastor tools grow up
A huge week. A complete Bible-study toolkit landed on both apps — original-language lexicon, search, highlights, offline reading — alongside a major upgrade to the pastor dashboard.
This is the first of our new weekly product notes. Every week we'll tell you plainly what shipped, what we fixed, and what we're building next — and why. This was one of the biggest weeks since launch.
📖 A complete Bible-study toolkit — and it's free
We rebuilt Bible study on both iOS and Android. Everything here ships at no cost:
- Study resources, unlocked. We removed the commentary paywall. Classic public-domain commentaries — Jamieson-Fausset-Brown, Adam Clarke, John Gill — are now free for everyone.
- Tap any word for Strong's. A free Greek & Hebrew lexicon, so you can see the original-language meaning behind a verse with one tap.
- Search the whole Bible. Full-text verse search and a smarter semantic search that finds verses by meaning, not just exact words.
- Highlights & notes. Mark up Scripture and keep personal notes that stay with the verse.
- Parallel translations. Read two translations side by side.
- Reading customization. Themes, typeface, text size, and line spacing — make it comfortable to read for a long time.
- ORA Guides. A study panel where ORA explains a passage with grounded, cited context.
- Scripture memorization. A spaced-repetition trainer — the same proven method the best language apps use — to actually commit verses to memory.
- Verse-anchored prayers. Start a prayer attached to a specific verse and keep its history.
- Today's Verse widget. A home-screen and lock-screen widget so Scripture meets you before you even open the app.
✈️ Offline Bible
Download translations for the subway, a flight, or anywhere with no signal — including offline verse search, highlighting, and prayer/journal writing that syncs the moment you're back online.
💬 More ORA, for everyone
We doubled the ORA conversation quota on every tier — now 10 / 50 / 100 / 250 conversations a month (Seeker / Believer / Disciple / Witness). ORA is the most-loved feature in SoapBox; we want you using it.
⛪ For pastors: the tools grew up
- Customized Discipleship AI (Basic) is live — ORA grounded in your church's own teaching.
- ORA for Pastors — a dedicated section on the dashboard.
- Communities hub and a cleaner Ministry → Manage layout.
- In-app church-plan upgrade.
- Pastor Voice cloning — the UI landed this week (much more on this next week).
- Guest check-in kiosk (QR + a "+1" flow) and a Member Growth widget that replaces the old static member count with something that actually shows momentum.
🛟 In-app Support
A new Support screen — ask a Question, report a Bug, or request a Feature, and track everything under "My Requests." We read every one.
🛠️ What we fixed
- Restored the Push Notifications toggle that had gone missing from settings.
- Fixed church edits failing to save (a geo-indexing bug that was blocking pastors).
- Fixed "Suggested communities" erroring on every call.
- Widened the devotional-reminder window to 4 AM–10 PM with a clearer AM/PM label.
🔜 What's next, and why
Pastors keep asking for two things above all: a way to reach their people between Sundays, and help turning sermons into something members actually revisit. Next week is about exactly that — Pastor Voice devotionals and a set of sermon tools. We're also starting the work to make SoapBox speak your language — literally.
Built in public, shipped every week
Free on iOS and Android. No ads. A Bible app, prayer wall, and ORA — your AI study companion — in 140+ languages.
