What's New — Week of July 29, 2026

Dark mode and larger text everywhere, sermon clips in two taps, your church's own colors and a public page, and a home for ministries.

Alan Safahi

A big week, and much of it is the kind you can see the moment you open the app. SoapBox now adapts to how you like to read, pastors can turn a sermon into a shareable clip in two taps, churches can wear their own colors, and ministries finally have a front door of their own.

Dark mode, larger text, and an accessibility statement

Dark mode is here — and it's complete, not partial. Every screen got a pass: the Bible reader, ORA, the prayer wall, sermons, giving, groups, and the full pastor console. You'll find it under Appearance, alongside a new text size control for anyone who'd rather read bigger. We also ran a full accessibility audit and published our Accessibility Statement, which sets out the WCAG 2.1 AA standard we hold ourselves to and how to tell us when we fall short.

Turn a sermon into a clip in two taps

Making a clip used to mean opening the transcript, tapping the exact first word, tapping the exact last word, and keeping the span inside a time limit. That asked pastors to do the editing and the judging. Now it's two taps: ask for suggestions, then pick one. SoapBox proposes three moments, each with the preacher's own words, a length, and a plain-English reason like "this is the line people will quote" — so the pick is something you can accept or reject at a glance instead of scrubbing through audio. It can also look for the moments a room actually responded.

Your church's own look — and a page people can visit

Churches, ministries, and groups can now set their own brand colors, a banner, and a font from a curated set, applied consistently across every page of that community. Text readability is worked out automatically from whatever color you choose, so your brand stays yours and stays legible. Alongside that, churches can publish a real public page — service times, sermons, public events, and a shareable invite link. Publishing is opt-in and off by default, member posts are never published, and contact details stay private unless you choose to share them.

Ministries, not just churches

Independent ministry leaders told us the sign-up flow made them describe themselves as a church just to get in the door. That's fixed. The leader path now asks whether you lead a church or a ministry, supports ministries that operate under a church, and shapes the rest of the questions to match. Approvals got easier on our end too — one-tap approve and reject, so a waiting ministry hears back in hours rather than days.

Also this week

Amplify gained an Activity view, so an approved post no longer seems to vanish — you can see what published, open it on the platform, and retry anything that failed. Connect buttons for YouTube and your Facebook Page are live. The Resources library was redesigned around cards, search, and clearly labelled states instead of a flat list. And we fixed a handful of things worth naming: sermon player controls that wouldn't respond to taps, an invite QR code that stretched oddly on wide screens, and a church switcher that showed the wrong list of communities.
